Working only on transmissions of every make or model, our technicians are experts through certification, continual training and years of experience. These days we lead busy lives with no time for the unexpected car, van or SUV transmission repair. Keeping drivers behind the wheel is what we do best because we do it every day. I have seen a few already post this, and I believe it is a universal struggle for those of us who work remotely ... For contractors I completely understand the desire to have a more consistent workload so that it can become more than a side job or a part-time position.

Being able to choose my own schedule was ideal while I was juggling attending school, working full-time, and raising children. There is never a down-time for the full-time employees, and I honestly believe that there is potential for individual opportunity and growth for any contractor that joins the team at ACD if someone so desires. If you have to cancel a shift you signed up for, you will be penalized in various ways. You must stay at your computer for an entire shift or mark yourself as on break, which will mean you won't be able to take calls, which means you will not make any money. I worked entire shifts where I did not receive a call. When I asked if this was normal, I was told not to discuss call volume and told I could put in a ticket with technical support. You will spend several hours training and it is all unpaid, and you are told to see it as an "investment in your business." It's really an investment in ACD Direct's business.

You will likely make less though because the calls are rarely that busy and you only get paid for minutes you are on the phone talking . You don't get paid for any after-call work, training (you actually have to pay for your initial training/certification), time between calls. My first weekend I worked like 30 hours and made around $250. Sometimes there guarantees for a shift but not always and rarely more than $4 or 5.

I would definitely avoid this place as there are plenty of work-from-home freelance positions where you do not have to commit to a schedule or waste your time tethered to your computer for no pay. Oh, and ACD makes you sign a contract that says that in the event you take legal action about them erroneously classifying you as a freelancer you will not receive financial compensation for it.
